Dreamtime at the 'G'

When it comes to graphic design, referencing Aboriginal motifs has become an area littered with offensive and inappropriate work.

But the Richmond Football club seem to have gotten it right.

'Dreamtime at the G' is a round of football where the AFL highlight the rich and long indigenous culture of Australia and raise the profile of their indigenous players, giving them a voice and a platform to be role models to their peers.

Stuart Harradine was the designer of the guernsey (pictured above) and hails from the Wimmera in Western Victoria. He received a $5000 Federal Government grant to assist in further training and development.

This seems such a positive move towards the inclusion of the entire story of Australian history in it's visual communication. It's time to move forward.
